Animals bring us peace

Les animaux nous apportent la paix

English version below the picture

The Knight in conversation with the Duchess’s horse.

 La nuit dans la nature
J ‘ allais vers la pâture
Où les chevaux attendaient
Qu ‘on viennent les chercher .

Je leur criais ” viens , viens “
Et ils vinrent si près
Que je leur caressais leur nez .

Ils étaient si paisibles
Dans la nuit qui tombait
Que je frissonnais
D ‘ un sentiment de paix .

The présence de some animaux brings me a feeling of peace  .Je ne sais pas si vous ressentez la même chose.

Two horses in the night

The presence of some animals brings to me this feeling of peace  . I don’ t know if you feel the same .

This recalled me the same feeling with horses at night and I wrote in January 2004 this simple poem : Peace in the night

At night in the nature
Going to a pasture
Where horses were staying
For their stall , waiting .

I shouted to them come
And they came so close
That I tapped their nose .

They looked so peaceful
During this dark nightfall
That I was thrilling
With a peace feeling .

We got a dog , at the beginning of our marriage (1961), a female that ” raised “our 6 children from 1966 to 1977. Never we will forget her . She was called Netta . Everyone of our children have a pet ( horses, dogs, cats ) and even our first grandchild , Julie (who owns two horses )

Netta gave to the children life lessons in giving birth twice

Carole , Paco

And , at the end is not Carole happy with her Australian shepherd , Paco?

        bonsoir Michel,

      • Tu as raison Maidy .

Our home has had guiena pigs,?(sp?, hamsters, cats, dogs, birds, fish. I think that is all. Cats and birds are probably my favorite. I feel so calm petting Mr.Grey in my lap now. Miss Kitty aka Missy is another story but I’ve only had her inside since Feb.

Your poem is heart-touching and beautiful, Michel! 🙂
Yes, I do feel the same. Animals do bring peace, love, joy, and delight to our lives! 🙂 They give more to us than we give to them. 🙂 I don’t want to know life without animals.
    (((HUGS))) 🙂 ❤️

  12. Marsha Bryant says:

I have not owned a dog in 4 years now. I certainly do miss them, but after our home burned November 12, 2016, we have not had a good place to raise them. We have acquired 3 cats though. Cats are very different than dogs. When we finish rebuilding our new home , hopefully by the end of the year, we will again have a good place for a good dog. Many changes have taken place…life is still good though. I sure do miss keeping up with you and yours.ilym

  13. Bonjour. The photo of Carole and Paco is wonderful. Both of them are smiling and happy.

  33. Marilyn Thysell says:

Yes, animals bring us peace and much love. As a child living on a fruit ranch, we always had 2 dogs & 3 cats. Then we also had rabbits and chickens. The roosters did Not like me an chased me every chance they could corner me in the chicken house. Since married, I’ve had a dog and 4 cats. The 4th is Sassy who rules our house as a spoiled Duchess. Where I live now, I’ve had wild turkeys, wild cotton tail rabbit, deer at one time, lots of squirrels, owls, ground hogs and a large cougar (mountain lion) lurking around. And I live suburbs . The draw is the huge Columbia River about a mile from us. God’s creatures and I love them all…………well the skunks can be a problem. lol. Enjoy your week Michel. ❤ Marilyn

  38. Nancy Stuebs says on FB:
I always had cats/kittens until we moved into the homestead here. Sis did not want any pets in the house, and still miss having them all these years. Now, we are too old to take care of anything anymore. Did not want anything big or energetic—just cats. They are more my “lazy” style. I love looking at other animals, though. I did take riding lessons in high school in Arizona, and the horses were great. But only rode any when company from New Jersey or Illinois came to visit and wanted to ride a horse in the desert.

    • We love animals, Nancy, but sometimes you have to recognize that it can be a bondage when you get older On the contrary, for others they will be a faithful company until the end of their life

  39. Gayle says:

    Beautiful poem Michel!
I have always had cats since I moved out of my parents house….my mom was allergic to them!
My cat Morty is now 16…don’t know what I’ll do without him. 😪

    A-M & Johann

  42. I often think dear Michel that our animal friends are both our teachers and healers.. So many stories of how our animals instinctively know when we are feeling at a low ebb and comfort us with their loving presence..
I have always had Cats, I was brought up with cats, while my husband was brought up with both cats and dogs,
They certainly are gifts, and love unconditionally when treated with love…

Loved your poem also Michel.. Many thanks for sharing those lovely photos too.

    • Yes there is a communication with animals , Sue . They know so well how share their feelings, their love and their compassion principally the mammals but not only. The only problem is their short life and the pain we got when they pass away. ❤

      • Yes the pain of our pets passing is great indeed.. For they are family.. But they bring so much joy while there are here.

        ❤ ❤

    Dear Michel,
I have been having a very busy and somewhat difficult time recently and have not been able to spend time online. I have missed reading your blog and over the next few days, I hope to catch up.
I agree with you completely! Animals are a great source of companionship, peace and comfort! When I was a child, I had a cat who was my constant companion. I have continued to have cats for my whole life. When our children were growing up, we had a dog. He lived to be 16 years old, so he was with us for almost the whole time our children were growing up. I loved our dog and still miss him, but I don’t think we will ever have another one because we are not very good dog parents. We are not good about walking them and grooming them regularly, and they need that.
When the cat who was supposed to be our last cat died in March of 2010, I was resigned to not having a cat anymore. At the beginning of October that year, I decided that I had to have a cat, so I went to an animal rescue and adopted an older cat named Sam. I decided to do that because I did not want to outlive the cat. It is difficult when an elderly animal’s people die and I thought that I could outlive this cat. He is 17 or 18 years old now and will not live a lot longer. I will miss him terribly when he is gone!
Since then, our granddaughter Madison found a homeless kitten. She named the kitten Peanut. She soon discovered that she was not going to be able to keep the kitten, so she brought Peanut to us. Peanut is now 5 years old and will probably outlive us, so I now have the problem of leaving an elderly animal homeless someday. I hope someone in my family will take her. I worry about that.
I have always loved horses, too. When I was in high school, my best friend had 5 horses and I used to ride with her frequently. I would have liked to have a horse myself, but it is very expensive to keep a horse in the United States and I have never been able to do it.
I know that some people like to live with animals and some do not. I need animals in my life. My cats love me unconditionally. They can recognize when I am sad or ill and they comfort me. They also come to me for comfort when they are sad or ill. I do believe they have emotions.
I enjoyed your post very much and I will be trying to catch up on the posts I have missed over the next few days.
Thinking of you and hoping you are feeling well,
    Nancy

  44. Such beautiful family photos, I strongly believe pets are wonderful for children. We always had a dog. Never had a horse but I love their elegance. There was a couple of horses on my grandparents farm and we could ride in the summer. Love this post,I missed it in my notifications! ❤️
