Ma fête , La St Michel archange
My name Day , Michaelmas
English version below the picture

September 29 was the day of St Michael the Archangel. We usually celebrate this day since my name is Michel (Note that it is not my birthday which is March 12)).
Janine had organized a meal preceded by Champagne at noon to which my sister-in-law called Michèle too and her husband Jacques were invited. My cousin René was also present (the one who talks to the seals) and his wife Chantal

In the afternoon Michèle and Jacques left us while René and Chantal stayed with us for supper. Janine had again prepared a famous meal including dessert
which was the family secret: a special tart from the Boulogne-sur -Mer region (the large-edged tart or cream tart) complicated enough to make to regain its lightness.
and its ancient scent. Janine takes this seceret from René’s mother.

It was a good and beautiful day but the next day at the weigh-in before dialysis, I had put on a kilo! Can an archangel gain weight? The whole question is there! 🙂
Bon fete, Michel! C’est mon fete, aussi!
Merci, Michele . Je te souhaite aussi une bonne fête .
Looks like a wonderful day.
Does a name day is celebrated in Kansa ?
No
You have to launch this tradition!! 🙂
I may have to.
Yes, I encourage you !
Thanks.
Happy Name Day! I pray the prayer of St. Michael the Archangel – it is one we have been saying for the last 3 1/2 years…”St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen”
Thank you, Val, for this beautiful prayer to St Michael . Why ” saying for the last 3 1/2 years” ?
A beautiful Michaelmas day celebration with family, Michel! You look very proud and happy sitting in front of that special cream tart!
Much love to you, Janine and the family. ❤
Lavinia
I always loved to eat that tart since my childhood, Lavinia . and Michaelmas too! 🙂
🙂
Thanks Keith , you made an effort! 🙂 🙂
Surely, even an archangel would gain weight if he ate that beautiful tart! We do not celebrate name days in America, but I am thinking we ought to start. Especially if dessert is involved!
Yes, Lori, it never is too late to start and enjoy celebration !
And , I add : I do not know where join you . What web site ? ❤
That tart looks delicious! I admire Janine’s ambition to bake in the summertime. Here in Southern California, we don’t like to use the oven until the weather cools off.
Here in Northern France the weather is become much cooler , Judy . We already bear our winter clothes!! 🙂
The tart looks good. I’d probably want seconds. 🙂 Bought a bag of mini chocolate covered donuts yesterday, they are gone today….me! Wil eats more cookies.
In full greed, Bonnie !! 🙂
Oh, how wonderful!!! Happy Name Day, Michel! 🙂 I am filled with joy that you had such a fabulous celebration! 🙂
The tart looks beautiful and delicious! 🙂
You look handsome and happy! 🙂
It has been proven that angels CAN gain weight! 😉 😀
(((HUGS))) for you and Janine!!! 🙂
So, Carolyn , will be I an angel despite of the gain of weight? 🙂
Whatever thank you, for your kind words that make my wings growing !!! 🙂 ❤
YOU will always be an angel, Michel!!!
You are too kind, Carolyn! ❤
I just call it like I see it.

Thanks ,Holly . I try to do for the best.
Please do! Sending flowers.
Oh, that dialysis weigh in after one knows he’s been a “bad boy”! I always try to be aware of food and fluid consumption over the weekend because failure to be in control, with the resultant weight gain, means a likelihood of painful muscle cramps in the last hour of the dialysis. I hope you didn’t have those cramps, too, Michel.
It looks like you had a wonderful social gathering for your name day celebration!
I was suffering of cramps at every session of dialysis in 2018/2019
But now they inject in my blood a product that eliminates totally the cramps. Perhaps, Doug, you can ask to the Doctor.i
Now my main problem is the painful arthrosis in my spine that blocks the sensibility and motricity in my legs . I have to use a cane to walk..
In friendship
When I get cramps, they add saline through the dialysis machine. I try to avoid that since it oftentimes means I miss my final weight goal. I use a cane or walker myself, depending on how far I have to walk.
We have the same pain, Doug and we try to do for the best.
Michel, You are so fortunate to have family members nearby to celebrate your name day with you. And what a beautiful celebration! The tart looks delicious. Janine must be a wonderful cook! It makes the disscomforts of life easier to bear when you have the joys of such a celebration! Best wishes and love, ❤ Cheryl
Yes Cheryl, it was a good day with brotherhood and cousins . This is comforting . And yes I may say thank to my wife Janine who takes care of me and indeed is a wonderful cook !
Love ❤
Michel
As my mom and I would joke, “name day calories don’t count”… it’s too bad that the scale always tells the truth! 😀
Happy name day!
The scale is without mercy, Marica!
Happy Name Day. That tart looks so delicious. But I understand that on Name Day, the scales may be off a bit.
Scale is not needed at name Day, Matt ! 🙂
That looks like a wonderful celebration. The photos are lovely, and you look quite handsome. The desert looks yummy and tempting. 🙂 🙂
You are right, Angy : both my wife and I and all of the children love this tart that is a heritage ! 🙂
Beautiful celebration of a beautiful name… Meekaail in Arabic. Always good to see your family, especially Janine. But oh my dear Lord, the tart! Incredible the way it looks and how good it has to taste and smell. Why do you and Janine live so far from me Michel?
Love,
Zakiah
The Internet makes people closer , in a way but not always .
Thanks , Zakiah for the translation of Michel in Arabic.
I read your comment to Janine . You are kind
Love ❤
Michel

Are not the meals priviledged times of the day, Sue? 🙂
They are… And we are lucky in that our meals are often filled with the bounty of our garden… Which makes us even more grateful… 🙂

Hello Michel.
What a warm-hearted post. Happy name day! We got married that day, when man raise flags. We always joke about that this happens to our honor.
Have a good day,
Matti
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksis_Kivi
Merci Michel. Matti
Merci , Matti .
Oui, monsieur. 🙂
Cheers to your name day celebration. That’s a lot of tart for one to eat!
Sounds like a wonderful day with great family and delicious food, especially the tart!
Thank you as well for the Thanksgiving wishes Michel, much appreciated!
Stay well and safe! Cheers!
Thanks, Larry.
What a lovely tradition!
I hope your dialysis is going well!
Yes, Nancy, dialysis is going well, but it is tiring .
How did your dialysis go Michel? I didnt even know you are going through this even. Alas, such a kind loving spirited angel as you should be given immunity from gaining weight…although i would love to have a piece of that scrumptious looking tart Michel.
Yes dialysis is a needed chore .
And yes the tart was good! 🙂
I’m sorry I missed Michaelmas! I enjoyed this entry as usual, and the pics. Janine is amazing, she doesn’t age! What is in the tart? Are those plums?
Love, Christine ❤️
Yes , Christine, they are plums
You are right Janine always looks young! 🙂
You are looking very healthy and well, Michel. How are you feeling? Dialysis goes smoothly, I hope? God bless and keep you and yours!

Bons Baisers Laurence
