Children of the seasons

Enfants des saisons

Children of the seasons

English version below the picture

Our children , singing the glory of their father at his 80th. Left to right:
Carole, Thierry, Jean-Baptiste, Véronique , Isabelle .
Guitar player : our son Pierre

Recently, I telephoned a distant cousin and she began to question me on the name and age of our six children. Ah my friends, what a torture! Indeed I had to find in my poor memory the date of birth of each child and to do a mental calculation to find their age this year (the age changing every year as everyone knows). In my efforts to make all these calculations I lost my breath.

Not wanting to repeat this test, I wrote on my notebook the names of the children in the order of birth. Here is:
1 Carole, the duchess January 11,1962
2 Thierry December 21, 1964
3 Véronique March 7, 1966
4 Pierre April 15, 1968
5 Isabelle August 12, 1971
6 Jean-Baptiste July 30,1974

Having done this I suddenly realized that our first two children were born in winter, the 3rd and 4th in spring, the 5th and 6th in summer!
Isn’t it pretty to have children following the seasons, seasonal fruits! I know, some will say: what did you do in the fall? Where are the fruits?
I will answer them: we took a rest.

Didn’t God himself rest on the Seventh Day? ( Genesis )

Six very beautiful and obviously talented children, how delightful!
And how many grandchildren Michel, no details just the count 🙂

Congratulations on your 80th, was that recent? Looks like it was pre covid as you have a lovely family gathering!

    Take care kind gent 🙂

We only had two children and no grandchildren. You are blessed Michel.

  3. I enjoy the photo of your children. So lovely.
As for answering the question of old my children are, I have it easier. One of my children was born in 2000. Thank goodness. The question of how old I am is far more difficult, but I have a cheat. I ask my husband. 🙂

  4. This is incredibly beautiful, for every season there is a blessing Or two. Isn’t it amazing, such a lovely family. I do agree that a rest was a good idea, one must allow time to enjoy the gifts.
    Love, ❤️

A wonderful picture of your children.

Beautiful family! And your memory is amazing. It’s probably kept sharp by your active life.

I had to stop and figure out what seasons our children were born in. We had 3 in winter,1 in spring, 1 in summer, and 2 in fall. My middle son, Jim, was born in July, 1968. The same year as your Pierre. I never can keep track of their ages from year to year, but this year my oldest is 60 and the youngest is 36. I’m lucky to remember how old I am. Ha ha. I love the picture of all your children singing to you. What a blessing!

  9. LGail says:

Beautiful children! Honoring you with music. 🥰

  10. HA! I love this, Michel! I can see how remembering their names and birthdates are a chore! 😉 😀
My parents had 8 kids. Often when wanting to speak to one of us…usually to ask us to do something…my Dad would call us by the wrong name…then he would go through a few names, just in teasing, before calling us the right name. I teased him about getting us all T-Shirts with our names on them. Ha! 😀
Your children are beautiful and handsome and how wonderful that they honored you with music on your birthday!!! 🙂
And I love how their were born in 3 of the seasons and then you and Janine took a break in the 4th season. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂
PS…With my 7 siblings, their spouses, their children, their grandchildren, some great-grandchildren…we have a family calendar one of my Brother-in-Laws has been making for all of us (for decades) and he gives the calendars to us as Christmas gifts every year. That is THE only way I can remember and acknowledge all of the the birthdays and anniversaries. 🙂

    bonjour Michel,
    bises !

  12. What a beautiful family you have Michel!

  13. You have such a lovely family. Yes..rest is needed. 😉

  14. Happy belated 80th, Michel! This story was so funny! I wouldn’t worry about it… I am no where near 80 and haven’t been able to remember my own age for years!

What a wonderful choir! I can’t imagine remembering all of the birthdays. I only have the one daughter (and now son-in-law and granddaughter) to keep track of, and I find myself astonished sometimes when I calculate her age. How did that happen?! (Let alone my own, lol)

You are blessed with a beautiful family. Six is the ideal number It seems that I remember you having at least one of your children living in another Country…England? Having 6 children, you must have quite a number of grandchildren. Keeping track of birthdays would not be an easy task.

Thank you for sharing. You live a full life filled with much happiness.

    Love,
    votre amie, Francoise.

  25. cocosangel says:

It is good that you have written down.
I am glad I had only 2, so I remember the dates and times. 🙂

    Take care,

You have a wonderful family! You and Janine have raised them well.
We have had a week of heat in the 90’s. It is very hard to keep going when the humidity also kicks in.
We look for joys in the small things of life. I hope you have a good week!

  27. wissh says:

Fall does seem like the perfect season to rest. This was a lovely post. It’s very heart warming to see you have such devoted children. Gosh, six children under age 11! (Did Janine have to help you with birthdates?) Those must have been some active fun filled years.
    Hope you are well. ❤️
    Christine

  30. Now, the grandchildren! LOL Oh, I’m just kidding! 🙂 I know you have at least one great-grandchild, too, yes? You are truly blessed, Michel, and I am so blessed to know you and your family. You have been an encouragement and a godly example. I truly admire you and your wife. Thank you for allowing us to have a peek at your life all these years, sharing your beautiful garden, and wonderful France.

    Much love,
    Caroline ❤

I sometimes test John on the girls birthday days and how they are, most times he gets it right but when it comes to our grandchildren he struggles 😀 😀 . What a wonderful family you have ::-)

  32. What a wonderful post of your children and the seasons they were born. I so love hearing about your family. What a blessing to have them close by for family gatherings. What a wonderful gathering for your 80th birthday. I will be that age someday soon as I turned 76 in April. Wishing you and Janine a pleasant summer and a wonderful autumn season. Thanks for sharing.

It is good to finally see that you are still ok. I just got back into my wordpress account after all this time. My main gmail was inaccessible during the big shutdown starting March too. I see I have a lot to catch up on!
