Janine in the garden

Janine au jardin
Janine in the garden

English version below the picture

carrying the dead stems Tansportant des tiges mortes

Last Wednesday on the afternoon , my wife Janine worked in the garden . She was cutting the dead stems of the raspberry bushes  and of other dried high flowers .. Then she carried them with a wheel barrow in a shed and  she cut them in smaller bits to light the fire in the fireplace . Nothing is lost

Then when the work is finished she comes home with fast feet, the vest proudly worn over the shoulder, with a happy look. She also carries a large bucket with the weeds that she has took off

On her way she admires in the lawn a carpet of wild crocuses that sing the  up  coming spring.
This view warms his heart and makes her forget tiredness

Finally supreme reward: a delicious coffee tasted in a proper cup since bearing the inscription in English “mothers’ coffee”. This reward is well deserved since Janine works tirelessly and she helps her failing husband who cannot gardening much  anymore because of his frail fistula at the arm.
 She raised also 6 chidren

Does not she deserve a medal of love and merit?

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
    within your house

  2. blb1 says:

The image of the crocus is quite the reward for both of you. So glad you are the cameraman so we also enjoy seeing her. I wondered what she would do with the cuttings, forgetting a fireplace.

  3. attatudy says:

Janine is my hero. I can only hope that I can be as active when I reach her age. She makes me feel lazy.

  4. John and Maggie Clark says:

  5. mrswrangler says:

Glad you appreciate her hard work. At least your grass is not covered in layers upon layers of snow.

  6. KB says:

Your post is like a beautiful poem. So wonderful to see Janine’s smiling face and the signs of spring all around you.

  7. Bel hommage, Michel !

  8. Happy early Springtime. 🙂

  9. OH! Janine DOES deserve a medal of love and merit EVERY day for all she does out of love for you and her family! 🙂
She embodies that Scripture verse from the Bible! 🙂

  10. Lavinia Ross says:

You have written a beautiful post for Janine, Michel! She deserves all the best of what life can give. She is a wonderful role model for all of us! ❤

  11. I felt so warm and energetic after reading this entry. But it’s too bad I don’t have a garden except for some indoor plants. So I think I’ll go water them. I love that the flowers are starting to bloom.

  12. murisopsis says:

Janine deserves more than a cup of coffee! Of course your admiration and all of your readers’ accolades are a fine accompaniment for her coffee. Perhaps a fresh pastry would be a good reward for her labors as well?

  13. puffpop says:

You and Janine are so very blessed to have each other. She is a remarkable woman and one who fits what scripture says in Proverbs 31:
“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels..” verse 10
    and verses 27-28
“27 She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

This chapter in Proverbs is often read as an example of what a good wife should be. Janine fits that description perfectly.

May God continue to bless both of you and your family.

    love,
    votre amie
    Francoise

  14. Anne-Marie says:

Crocus! We are sooo ready for spring here!

  18. Rachel says:

Janine is a remarkable woman who loves, and serves, her family. I know you are there helping however you can. It is the simple joys that bring contentment.
In my world, I have another polar vortex to go through. The last temperature I saw was a negative 7 degree. I know it is colder now. I am weary of the snow and cold. At least the sun is shining.
    Your birthday approaches. 🌿❤️🌿

  19. Carol says:

  20. Susan Joos says:

It always warms my heart to read the posts you make of the lovely Janine. I was delighted to see the picture of the wild crocus blooms in the yard! We are not close to crocus blooms here; there is still snow on the ground and today is very cold! Definitely not a day for any kind of gardening.

  21. suester7 says:

Kudos to Janine for her hard work! She does look satisfied at the end of the day as she sips her coffee. You are a blessed man, Michel!

  22. A Proverbs 31 woman. Great post, lovely garden, lovely lady!

  23. mlbncsga says:

Mornin Glorie…Janine does indeed deserve a metal, she radiates beauty and charm, she is a perfect match for you! ilym

  24. Michel, your Janine is a lovey woman and you must be so proud of here. Yes time to spruce up the yard for spring. I admire her that she raised 6 wonderful children. Yes she needs and deserves a medal. I so enjoy reading and photos of what she does. Your description of her makes me feel that I really know here. Love to you both. ❤ Marilyn

  25. Joyce Hutt says:

thank you michel, for again letting your readers into your world. i love how you and janine love each other, help each other, serve each other, and encourage each other. you are both blessed! your crocuses are very pretty, too, in contrast to our snow again covering the ground from our most recent snowfall two days ago.

  26. mimiwi2013 says:

I am so envious!! For two reasons. One is Janine’s ambition. I need some of that, for sure. She is still so active!! And I certainly know how much you love and appreciate each other!! The second reason for my envy is the fact we we are still buried in record-breaking snow totals. We broke the record from the 1880’s, for the most snow in February. We usually start seeing robins in the yard by mid-March. They will starve this year if they come here—with 4 ft. piles alone the walks and driveway, and up to 2 feet on the rest of the yard. It is also so cold that it is not melting. Just keep getting small amounts of snow every two or three days. A winter to remember, for sure. Love seeing your pic of the crocus!! Love, Nancy and Ken ❤

  27. Hurrah for Janine. Such labors make the soul happy. My physical pursuits are somewhat limited these days. Blessings and Love to you both ❤

  28. What a wonderful woman. You are blessed! (Mrs.Grovine)

  29. Cassi says:

Your post made me smile and smile. Your beautiful wife, your beautiful garden, your beautiful words. Thank you for savoring your fine life and sharing that with us. Love to you and Janine! xxoo Cassi and Lola

  30. cocosangel says:

She has a good green thumb. I am so bad at gardening. I have got a red rosses pot, and I hope and pray I won’t kill it.

  31. Lauren says:

The most beautiful thought I have (of course, after seeing Janine’s face) is that you appreciate her and honor all that she is. You are good together. Much love and wishes for you to feel better…Lowie xxoo

  32. Julie says:

Last week the weather was lovely so I am not surprised that Janine was out in the garden. Hopefully, your garden will flourish with the help of Janine and your wonderful family, of course, they will be working under your guidance 🙂

  33. I cannot believe it is already so warm there! How lovely 🙂
Bravo, Janine – how lovely it is that she helps you in the garden. You chose a wonderful woman to spend your life with and to read how much you cherish her is so charming.

    Happy Spring!

  34. Barbara Lenhard says:

Your Janine is a very special lady indeed. You make a perfect couple together. We are also beginning to limit our activities. My husband is not able to do the gardening he used to love doing. We all have to a adjust to a different routine but we are still very blessed💕💕

  35. Winnie Senty says:

She does deserve a medal for being an exceptional mother and grandmother and a wonderful wife! She has the patience of Job. The fact that her husband is beginning to fail in his 80s should not be a surprise but I rejoice that you are still together in love and marriage after all these years. Raising 6 fine children is a feat in itself! I’m sorry you’re not feeling tiptop but look at how many years you have garden! There’s another way to look at that… You are enjoying the bounty of your love garden and your physical garden. May God bless and keep you both in the palm of His hand.

  36. mcbery says:

The flowers look lovely. Am so anxious to get outside and word again! Spring is a little cold so far. Blessings, to you, Michel and Janine. 🙂

  37. mcbery says:

Actually I don’t see how to edit my comment but I really want to work outside. That’s my word for the day. 😀

  38. Eat Right Chef Louisa says:

Michel, this post deeply touched me. Your love for your wife is shown in such a profound way through your description of a seemingly simple event. And how wonderful that you are bestowing her a medal for all she has done for the family!

  39. marica0701 says:

Janine is a lovely role model! 🙂 And oh wow, the crocuses already! Spring is near!

  40. She most definitely deserves a medal. She is so adorable too. 😉
I loved all the pics and how the love for Janine shines through. You two are blessed to have each other.
    Prayers for your health.
    Love, E
