Ce mercredi, nous nous sommes réveillés avec une belle couche de neige blanche. J’ ai pensé prendre une photo seulement à 11h, donc une partie était fondue. Mais il restait une belle couche couvrant notre cour arrière et notre pelouse. Bien sûr, la neige est dangereuse à conduire mais c’est un spectacle superbe à voir. Tous les mois de Décembre et Janvier, nous n’avons pas eu de vrai froid et pas de neige, mais toujours un temps gris et humide. Quel changement! Bien sûr, je suis conscient des risques pour les voitures sur les routes, mais cela dit, je dois dire que ce paysage ouvre nos yeux et notre cerveau et il illumine notre âme. Nous nous sentons différents.
Les pas que vous voyez dans la neige de la cour arrière sont ceux de Janine qui est allée saler le trottoir le long de notre cour avant. Elle ne veut pas que je fasse quoi que ce soit à cause de ma fistule au bras droit qui s’est rétrécie deux fois depuis mars dernier et qui a nécessité deux interventions chirurgicales pour ré-agrandir la veine. Et bien sûr, je suis aussi privé de jardinage. Je vous dirais: ce soleil sur la neige était nécessaire pour réjouir mon coeur
Quoi qu’il en soit, la neige n’apporte-t-elle pas eau et lumière, source de vie?
On this Wednesday we were awaken with a white coat of snow . I thought of taking a photo only at 11h am so a part was melted . But It remained a beautiful laying covering our backyard and our lawn . Of course snow is dangerous to drive but this a superb show to see . All of the months of December and January we had no frost no snow but always a gray and wet weather. What a change ! of course I am conscious of the risks for the cars on the roads but this being said I have to say this landscape opens our eyes and our brain and lights our soul. We feel different .
The steps you see in the snow of the back yard are those of Janine who went to spread salt on the sidewalk on our front yard . She does not want I make anything because of my fistula at my right arm which has narrowed twice since last March needing a surgery to re-enlarge the vein. And of course I am deprived also of gardening . I would tell you : this sun on the snow was needed to enjoy my mind
Anyway ,is not snow bringing water and light ,source of life ?

Snow is magical unless you have to drive in it, especially if there’s ice under it. Then it can be demonic. But to look at it sometimes takes our breath away. When the sun shines there are diamonds everywhere. I love the verse in Isaiah that says “Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow.”
I like the Isaiah verse , Gracia . White is symbol of purity.
The first part of the verse in English says “Come now and let us reason together.” That God invites us to discuss and reason with Him is amazing. I don’t know what it says in French, since I no longer have a French Bible, or if I do, I’ve lost it.

I always enjoyed the silence of newly fallen snow. As a kid heading off to school I also enjoyed the soft crunch making my way through it. It’s a rare occasion for us to get snow. Think it was 2017 when we had some.
You are right, Bonnie, the winters are very mild for some years . Not much snow and ice .
My family in Michigan is enjoying a good, old-fashioned winter. They’re buried in snow and working from home so they don’t have to drive (computers are wonderful devices!). It’s lovely to look at but I have to admit, I don’t envy them. After living in a warm climate for my entire adult life, I’m no longer equipped to deal with cold. But, I do appreciate you sharing the lovely picture and your joy in the sunshine on snow.
Ah! Michigan near the lake and not far from Canada . The roads are bordered of walls of snow ; you are right Judy, I would prefer your mountains, dry excepted with some rains from time to time :

We live in an area of France where the snow becomes rare in winter for some years . So this asks us an adaptation and creates a kind of amazement

I am not surprised Canada is renowned for its hard weather and its snow, Angy. Our winters are mild for some years .
There are tons of snow north of us. It doesn’t snow in Florida. I remember plenty of it when I lived in OH and enjoyed it when I was younger. It’s very dangerous to drive in heavy snow. I did plenty of that when I worked before moving down here. I enjoy looking at the pictures from the warmth of my home here in sunny ,warm Florida.

OH, the snow is beautiful! I think it is the great equalizer…it makes everything look beautiful for awhile! 🙂 I love watching it quietly, gently dance down from the clouds. 🙂 I REALLY love it if I don’t have to drive in it. 🙂

I noticed as a little girl that if a person has a perfectly manicured lawn and another person has an overgrown weedy, patchy lawn…both lawns look beautiful blanketed with snow. Ha! 🙂
I agree with you carolyn. On a neat lawn the snow forms a simple smooth layer. If there are tufted weeds, roses and other shrubs, they form additional decorative elements with the snow.

I’m glad Janine is keeping you straight, though I’m sure it has to be a burden to you not to be able to do some of the things, like gardening, that bring you such joy. The snow is beautiful and does brighten up a winter’s day. I do prefer it to snow on the weekends, so I don’t have to deliver feed in it, but this year, so far, we haven’t had much. We do have a “polar vortex” sweeping down and bringing us super cold weather this week. I’m home in bed now, but this morning when I delivered my last load, around 2 am, it was about negative ten degrees C and the wind was blowing, so we’re having the wintry temperatures, at least. I hope you’re well, and please offer my regards to Janine.
Dan, your polar vortex makes me shivering . I guess this wind blowing with temperature of -10 °C should be hard to endure . I hope you are well outfitted .
I agree the snow can be very beautiful but we are experiencing snow plus below 0 temperatures here and it is brutal weather. I had to be out driving my husband to a doctor appointment yesterday and it was stressful. I just thank God we returned home safely.i hope your arm is doing better Michel and you are safe and comfortable, barbara💕

Elle avait jeté d’abord jeté du sel de déneigement avant de passer une raclette . Je suis franchement malheureux de ne pouvoir rien faire . Et heureusement car cet après-midi ls infirmières n’ont pu me mettre qu’une aiguille sur deux.

I am glad you received some snow. It does help clear the mind Michigan, we are under all sorts of warnings. Last night, we were asked to keep the temperature to 65 degrees (F). This is to help with the strain the energy companies are feeling. Our outside temperature has been at -30 with a strong wind chill. The cold is very dangerous. Our last snow was about 8 inches. Michigan has basically shut down. It is best to stay inside with a hot beverage by my side. I tend to my grandson. I am content.
I remember fromXanga what you said , Rachel, about the rude weather in Michigan .. This is a bit like Canada weather .
You are right, with wuch low temperatures and this brutal wind it is better to stay at home and take care of the grandson
I have such mixed feelings about snow! It is so beautiful and magical as it falls, and there are so many ways that it snows! From furious miniature snowballs pelting down in a mad rush to dreamy, feathery flakes drifting slowly down, it is fascinating and mesmerizing to watch. I like the way it brightens the night, too – it can be nearly as bright as a winter day! The sparkle after a snowstorm can be almost blinding, and the way snow can limn all the tree branches in a stark contrast of black and white is so amazing. The hushed stillness, too…there is a lot to enjoy about snow. But I confess I would prefer less of it, and driving in it is not fun at all. If I could orchestrate a few weeks of a gentle snow around Christmastime, and then be done with it, I would be happier! I am always more than ready for Spring!
I agree with you Susan snow is useful for the soils , is beautiful in various ways but it is very dangeroius to drive and to walk . . More I knew many years ago snow at Easter .!!!

Our temps are not as cold as the mid west and the east part of the USA. Next week temps to fall to 13F for a few nights. In the next 10 days, I see three to have snow. Both John and I stay indoors and only go out to do errands and to his cardio rehab 3 times a week. We get snow, but not much and a good portion of it is gone in 3-4 days, but the roads can be slick. I’m patiently waiting for Spring to come knocking on my door. Today, Jan 31, the high temp will be 31F, maybe. Do hope things going well with you and Janine and be careful on your snow. A little bit still can be slick and cause one to fall. Yes, inspite of snow causing problems, we do need the moisture to replentish the gift of life to growing vegetation . Do take care and view the beauty of your snow from inside your warm house. ❤ Marilyn

Janine did not want me going to make a path in the driveway and the sidewalk . We had bought special salt for the snow . She used it at first then when the snow was half melted she used a broom
You have a great attitude about snow, Michel. I do not, though. When I was little, living near New York City, I would go out in the snow, and end up getting sick with bad bronchitis. Missed a lot of school. When we moved to Arizona, which was hot and dry, I hardly ever got sick. Now I am back in the cold and damp, and dare not breathe in the air again. The snow is beautiful to look at when it first falls. But not so much when it starts getting “dirty”. And I always worry when Ken goes out and has to shovel it, or use the snowblower, especially in the frigid cold we have had. Today is warmer. Right now it is only 1 below zero farenheit! And Ken is outside for the second time today, With me worrying inside!! I keep reminding myself that we are halfway through winter, which pleases me. I wish I could stand the cold and be able to help Ken, but I can’t. So glad Janine is still able to help you so much. We must have about 18 inches on the level ground, with huge piles nest to sidewalks and driveway. It will certainly be around for a good while yet! It is good that you listened to Janine about not disturbing your arm. Being able to get your dialysis is much more important, for sure! Love to both of you. Forgive my rambling! Nancy and Ken ❤
You are right, Nancy . In fact our winters are mild and last year we did not have any snow at all . And two years ago not much either. So we were like amazed by this first snowfall But here is the meteo man announces snow again for tomorrow . This is another song ! And this bothers the drivers who go to work and the people who have to walk. I was not reassured when janine decided to throw salt then use a broom to make a path in that lay not thick of snow.

Everything looks better when it’s newly covered with snow. The polar vortex hit us here too, but not nearly as badly as it did farther north. Otherwise the last few winters have been somewhat strange: very moderate temperatures and not much precipitation. Janine is wise===be careful, my friend. 🙂
Our previous winters were like yours, Nail: very sweet. So much so that we could not distinguish part of autumn, winter and part of spring. It became worrying
We’ve had snow last night, not a lot, just to cover the ground about half an inch. I love snow, but not the cold that accompanies it.
As much as I love snow, I had to salt the path so that my daughters do not fall and slip while they walk to school.

We had snow here as well on Wednesday ,but it was not that much. it seems that the south of England has been getting lots of snow today so it might come your way again. You are right that cold bright days are much better than the dreary and damp days that we have seem to be having this winter
This weather is better for the health but we have to wear warm clothes to avoid the conséquences on the respiration of the brutal cold.
I love the snow Michel, I didn’t realize it is a rare event where you live. I’m sorry your fistula is giving you problems, William had to have his done twice also. But even more I am sorry you will no longer be able to garden. I know it brought you so much joy and of course the fruits and vegetables. And selfishly, I loved watching your garden spring to life each year.

Yes snow is a quiet show but we are quickly tired of it when this lasts too long!
We had about 16 or 17 inches of snow over the last weekend, then it snowed about 1 to 2 inches every day after that until this week when we got the Polar Vortex grounding us in our homes. The temperatures were about -13 degrees F (-25 C) It was not fun. But I agree, snow when fresh and pure, looks amazing in its beauty. I am glad you are not getting out in the snow Michel. Take it easy.
It seems to me uou got your large part of snow and cold, Zakiah includin a polar vortex . Enough is enough !

so pretty Michel! We have lots of snow here in Western NY ( i live about 90 miles southeast of Niagara Falls) I love the snow at Christmas time but if it was all gone for the rest of the season, I would be happy! LOL Take care my friend ❤

Snow and sunshine! What a beautiful pair! I don’t like the thought of Janine shoveling, though. Do you have a neighbor who would do it? We are supposed to get right inches in the next 12 hours. I told Tony that he had better have gas ⛽ for his snowblower!

Snow really is very beautiful! We had a lot of very dangerous days this winter with heavy snowfall and dangerous winds, but it is very beautiful to sit in the house and look at it!
