My paintings !

Mes peintures.
My paintings !

My wife Janine found out in our attic a file with old paintings I made when I was 14 /15 years old .
I have not painted since those years 1947 / 48. I found pleasure to draw or paint and I made it without model or photo to copy . I used only my memory and viewed in my mind the familiar sceneries . I had attended some lessons taught by the teacher who was not a specialist of art and taught many other matters . This explains the elementary look of those paintings and their poorness.
However  they reflect France way of life in 1947, remained very rural and simple . For example there was no many cars and the works in the fields were made with horses . They reflect also a part of what was in the mind of a 14 years old at this time

I show below  like documents and not for their artistic quality

b113707840 Le chasseur et son chien ( 1947 )The hunter and his dog ( 1947 )

b113707901Le rêveur et le pêcheur .  J ‘ aurais beaucoup à dire sur cette rivière et cette pâture
Dreamer and fisher . I would have many memories to relate about this river and this meadow .

Vers le marché !    1948 .Mon père aidait dans cette ferme durant ses courts congés
Towards the farmer market  1948 My father helped at that farm during …his short holidays

b113708157La moisson ,    1947 / 48  au loin , on travaille avec les chevaux on fait les meules
Harvest      1947 / 48  In the background people make stack . They work with horses .

Ces peintures font revivre bien des choses .
Those paintings make many things living again

Malgré l’aspect elémentaire (mais c’est toi qui le dis, pour moi ces peintures sont bien avancées), ces dessins sont si beaux et emouvants. Merci de les avoir partagés! En amitié, Annalisa.

Your paintings are charming and very good for 15 years! How interesting to see the daily life back then… a simpler time.
I wish we could go back to that. Do you?
I wish you and your family a pleasant week and thank you for sharing your art.

Nicely done and a remembrance of the time after the war, too. The world has changed so much in 70 years!

  9. Eat Right Chef Louisa says:

J’adore ces peintures, Michel! For me, the technique is not quite as important as the essence of life that you have captured, through your innocent eyes and good memory. It is a world that perhaps no longer exists today, which makes your paintings even more precious! Guard them well. They are a treasure to pass on! Amitié, Louisa

  10. Bien plus évocatrices que des photos, Michel. Merci pour les avoir publiées.

  11. I see a young van Gogh in these. 🙂

  12. I’m glad these paintings have survived all those years! Keep them in a safe place. It’ll continue to bring joy for many years to come.

  13. Lavinia Ross says:

These are beautiful paintings, Michel! I am glad you found them. Chef Louisa is right, the technique is not as important as your capturing the essence of life which does not exist anymore. They are a treasure!

Love to you and Janine, ❤

  14. Yvonne says:

  16. OH!!!!! Your paintings are so beautiful, Michel! They capture life then, and bring it to life once again…for us to see and enjoy! And what wonderful memories they must stir up for you! 🙂

You should have them framed and hang them on the walls in your home! For a 14, 15 year old artist, they are superb! 🙂

What kind of paints did you like to use? I cannot paint…but I used to try. I always enjoyed working with watercolors, pastel chalks, colored pencils, and charcoal. 🙂

    HUGS and ❤ !!! 🙂

I think I see what you mean about l’aspect élémentaire, but at the same time I’d be thrilled to make drawings half as well. (And from memory, too!) What precious mementos, it is good that they’re still preserved. That’s a pace of living that’s hard to find now.

  18. Marion Manson says:

Michel, your drawings are really lovely! I love the way you express yourself in art that tells a story. ❤ You should do more art now!!

Happy to read your posts again. Was wondering how you were as you did not post for a while.

They are lovely paintings, and I’m sure they bring many fond boyhood memories with them. I don’t think they are poorly drawn at all – they are certainly better than what I can draw!

Yes. These painting tell a story. A story of a simpler time. However, you underestimate your talent in painting. I hope you still have paints and brushes and you will share your drawings and paintings. So very nice. I have a lot of art supplies also but haven’t done anything at all for awhile. I should but I tell myself “chores first” and by the time the dusting and cleaning is done, I have no energy.
