a Stay in Normandy

Un séjour en Normandie
A stay in Normandy

English version in red

W e got a stay during a week in Normandy from October 21 to 28th with our oldest daughter Carole and her knight Thierry. They took Janine and me in their car .  We stayed not in the coast but inside in a area of mysty meadows and marshes. The ligh was always softened ny a sli fog principally in the morning . This was a plus to bring calm and peace. It was a dream place to have a rest that all of us needed

Carole and Thierry took janine and me in their car .

We went  for a walk in a marsh .Old oaks were standing by a small river and of course a lot of poplars.

The dog ” Kiri ” was happy like a “fish in the water” !Le chien Kiri était heureux comme un “poisson dans l’ eau”

It was so good to walk on a little track bordered of oaks, marshes and meadows.

…and to meet those wonderful normand breed cows . Their milk gives a good butter and cheese , the Camembert.

This area is not only a cowland but also the kigndom of the horses . Carole (with red coat ) went for a ride on her horse early in the morning twice during our stay. She is on the picture with the friend who made the training of the horses. Of course I have more to relate but  I do not want put too many pictures in a row . More later ! 🙂

Isn’t it nice that we still have some countryside left to walk in? The population of our town has at least tripled in the twenty-eight years we’ve lived here. I’m glad you had such a nice time!

  7. KB says:

The light looks beautiful and soft. I am glad you were able to enjoy a restful time.

    • The choice of the photos do not make totally justice to the softness of the light but It wa an important factor in the landscape . Ithought of you, Kathy, because we were in a region of horse breeding.

  8. Gracia says:

How nice that you were able to visit your daughter, and have a good rest. I got to visit my youngest son, and hope to visit my daughter and her family in Texas at the end of this month.

Such a lovely post and so peaceful. I have seen the pictures of the graves of the many heroes who have sacrificed so much. The pictures you posted give a peaceful and serene feeling.
    votre amie

    • Yes Franàoise we got much serenity . But afterwards, during All Saints Day we visited the family fraves in our area and in Amiens we have to cross an enormous military cemetary of War 1 . where there are thousands of white crosses with names of soldiers and officers killed in 1916 . This made me shivering.

Absolutely beautiful – and so green! It is cold here already and the last of the leaves are slipping off of the trees as quickly as they can. It looks enchanted and peaceful, out of time in a space of its own. It must have been wonderful.

Looks like you had a good and restive trip to beautiful Normandy. Your photos are lovely – I especially love the one of the pavement lined with trees and marshes on either side.

I’ve been ill the last month. What turned out to be a simple flu became pneumonia and led to my first hospital stay. I am much better now, but not fully recovered yet. This time of being ill has shown me that health is indeed wealth. Anyway, am thankful for the rest and being on the mend.

Looking forward to viewing more of your photos, should you decide to post them in another post. ❤️

I wrote a long comment yesterday, Michel, but it must not have posted!! Like so many others, I love the picture of you walking along the road! Such beauty in the scene!! Seeing Carole on the horse reminds me of when I would go horse-back riding in Arizona, when I was a teenager. Loved it. Did not do it often, because it was expensive. Good memories. I could not do it anymore though!! Do you ride Michel?

    • As you did I went hose back a few times when I ws a teenager, Nancy , but it was a big horse of farm ! And no many times . Since then I did not ride horses but my daughter is an experienced rider.

  35. littlemissbliss says:

you all look well – so happy to see!

  36. Doris High says:

I grew up on a Pennsylvania dairy farm, so I especially enjoyed seeing the cows.

  37. It’s wonderful to be able to spend time with your family and Normandy looks like a beautiful area! Yesterday was Veteran’s Day in the US, so many people were remembering the American veterans who landed at Normandy during WWII, It’s nice to see the area at peace now.

    • he area where we stayed was the last line of resisting of the german army iin 1944 . There has been furious fight to get the break . Afterwards the allliees have been able tp jpoin Paris and the German border.

  38. What a great place to visit. Glad you had this restful time away.

  39. Oh it’s so beautiful & peaceful there. That picture of you walking in the road is wonderful.
