Everything happens !

Tout arrive !
Everything happens !

English version below the picture

The thief broke a glass to open the window ( on the left ) and enter the house.

A bed room at the first floor after ” the visit “ .

My personnal office at the first floor after “the visit” . Mon bureau après la cambriolage

Last Sunday while we were at church and at the vote our house was visited and ransacked. Everything was searched from the cellar to the attic, emptied cabinets and drawers: content on the ground. Only three jewels were stolen: the ring offered to Janine for the 50th wedding anniversary, a precious necklace coming from a dear aunt  and a pocket watch remembering an uncle killed in the fighting in 1940 in Dunkirk. The police came twice. The company in charge of repairing by the  insurance came today to take the measures.( glass and  two broken locks of doors) The thief entered the house by breaking a window pane of facade. We have lived here for 31 years, and this is the first time we have suffered such a ransacking.

Janine was strongly shaken but already the house was put back in order.

Another event is the election of the new French president who is a native of Amiens, the city where I live. It was worth saying, and this  is more enjoyable  to say  than report  a burglary!

How disturbing to have some in your home and taking things! I hope the items are recovered and the thief dealt with. And yes, we’ve been watching from across the ocean and are glad you are welcoming Marcon as your new president.

  3. Heartafire says:

I’m so sorry Michel. I am glad you and family are safe. I have heard that home invaders may be Aware that one might be at church or in general assume when the family is not home. I can only imagi
be how violating it is to have your home intruded. Congratulations on the French election. I think the entire western world is very proud of the results.

  4. Oh, Michel!

I am so sorry. I cannot believe this happened. My heart goes out to you for the violation of your privacy and sense of safety in your own home, as well as the loss of these treasures with such sentimental value. They are irreplaceable, but I know your sense of safety and privacy can be recovered. I am very sad this has happened. My love to you and Janine as you deal with this. It’s just horrible to imagine going through that. God bless and keep you both.

  5. Oh no! Michel, I know what this is like, it happened to us just recently! Perhaps the police will catch the crooks and return your property. But either way I pray you and your family will continue to be safe.
And I’m so glad for the election results in France! It sounds like very good news.

  6. mrswrangler says:

That is horrible. I am sorry this happened to you.

  7. blb1 says:

I’m so sorry Michel! When Wil and I got married our fully packed car was broken in during the night so I some what know the feeling as my beautiful jade bracelet was stolen. Never found of course even though they found the ransacked suitcases. I sure hope you had help cleaning that mess they made up.

    • We had to clean and class every evetything. For the broken locks and the glass an entreprise will make the repairs . I understand you did not forget your jade bracelet..

  8. Eat Right Chef Louisa says:

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news, Michel! I am so sorry this happened, and hope there won’t be a next time! Glad that everything is back in order now.

  9. Oh no! 😦 This is horrible, Michel! 😦 I’m so sorry to hear that this happened! 😦
It makes me upset, sad, and angry! So I know you and Janine must be really hurting. 😦 The violation of your privacy and safety is the worst thing. But, I, also, hope you get your precious belongings returned. I hope they catch the thief (s).
I’m so glad you and Janine are safe and I pray you will continue to be safe.

  10. grannysgotablog says:

Oh no Michel and I am so sorry this happened and I know what this feels like-it is such an assault against ones security and safety.
Prayers yours and your Mrs way.

  11. Barbara Lenhard says:

I am so disturbed that this has happened to you, my friend and Janine. This such a cruel act of distruction and thievery. I pray the criminals are brought to justice and your precious belongings are recovered. Love, Barbara

  12. neilc693 says:

How distressing—and an outrage! My apartment was burglarized once, they made off with laptops (the data was the irreplaceable thing). One feels violated and angry. Unfortunately, chances are probably slim to catch the thief, if it was just someone waiting for an opportunity, unless they’re unwise enough do it again nearby and soon. Did you have photos of the objects? If so, perhaps they can keep a watch for them (at the “prêts sur gage” and so forth).

    • My laptop well visible and a mobile phone have not been taken . The thief wanted to find only money and jewels ; the police told us they were probably already sold ! My wife is shaken , and I understand.
You have unfortunately experienced this, Neil . you said exactly what we feel.

  13. puffpop says:

I am so very sorry that this horrible event happened to you and Janine. Your privacy and security have been violated and I hope that they find whoever did this to you. It’s evil. I’m so sorry that you lost things that gave you precious and important memories.

My prayer is not only that they find the thieves (since they will probably do it again) but that you and Janine recover from this horror.

    Love to you,
    votre amie,

  14. Thanks Françoise , we try to recover from this shock .

  15. murisopsis says:

As outrageous the break-in was – I am thankful you were not home and no physical harm came to you or Janine! We have had several car break-ins in the neighborhood where they smashed windows only to take a CD or two and maybe a handful of coins. The police are looking but not confident they will catch the vandals. We are parking in the garage and the neighbors are all watching closely.

  16. weggieboy says:

May the police find the bastard who violated your home and stole from you! I am so mad just thinking about what sort of low life would harm you this way! Michel, I am so sorry you had to experience this and that things stolen were meaningful to you and Janine.

  17. suester7 says:

I’m so sorry to hear of this, Michel.

  18. Isabel Capillas says:

Oh my! We have thieves breaking into our house in the Philippines too several years ago and everyone was shaken. But at least all members of the family were safe and only the television was stolen. Hope Janine is feeling better and thank God you and Janine are safe.

  19. Leslie says:

Congratulations on Macron! But I am SO sorry about this awful intrusion. Please install a strong security system.
And maybe get a big loud dog??
    Best wishes,

  20. Karen says:

So sorry this happened, Michel. What a terrible thing! Glad that you and Janina are ok and that the house is back in order. So sorry that objects of such sentimental value were taken.
Also, thank you for the sentiments on my birthday yesterday! Always friends!
    Love, Karen

  21. Carole says:

  22. mimiwi2013 says:

Oh my, Michel!! That is horrible. Looking at the pictures just saddened me so much. And then I think of all the work involved putting everything back in it’s place. At our ages it is too much of a chore!! I am glad they did not break in while you were still at home, or that you didn’t come back early. They evidently knew what was valuable enough to take, since only those few objects were taken. Years ago, when Ken still had his masonry business, someone broke into his shop, where he kept some of his equipment and supplies. They did not steal anything—-just vandalized the place. Even tried to set fire to a few things, but they did not succeed. Paint sprayed all over things, too. The police thought they knew who did it, but could never prove it enough to make an arrest. Fortunately, insurance covered most of the damage. But it is just the feeling of being violated, with no concern for the victim’s feelings that bothers me the most. Heartless beings, for sure. ❤ Nancy and Ken

    • You are right ,Nancy. I wonder what would have happened if we were coming back early ?
So you both experienced also this kind of violation of your property.. This leaves a bitter taste

  23. Zakiah says:

    Dear Michel and Janine,
This is such a personal violation! I am aghast that someone would do this. How awful. I am deeply incensed at the way a stranger can get into the house and ransack everything, and steal the jewelry. I hope the police will catch the burglar, and your valuables are returned to you.
On another note, we are very happy with the outcome of the elections in France.
Blessings to both of you and much love,

    • Yes we have this feeling of violation , Zakiah and thanks for your kind words .
I have been surprised also to see many American readers are interested in French politic with the election of the new president. Good luck to him. He has much to do.

  24. I am so sorry to hear this, Michel! It feels so violating to know someone was in your home and touching your things and then stole such precious belongings. 😦

    God bless you and Janine.

    Love, Julie

  25. Annalisa says:

Ils on volé to us no joyaux et ceux des fils.

      Michel ❤

  26. mlbncsga says:

Dear Mornin Glories, this makes me so sad, but I learned after our house fire that all that was lost were earthly possessions, we all escaped unharmed and the dogs too. I’m so glad you were at Church and not home, things could have been much worse. Matthew 6:19-21 ESV
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Happy Happy Mothers Day to Janine! ILYM

  27. Michel, I am sorry to learn about this. It is good that you were away. Also good that the insurance came through for you. Sending Prayers for both of you. Am glad that your candidate won the election. Be sure to get Janine some flowers for Mothers day!–Lovingly, Ellen

  28. Michel, so sorry that your home was ransacked from top to bottom. Sending prayers and wishes that your peace of mind is returning. I don’t know how I would react to a situation like this as it would be about all one could take. Glad to hear that Janine has the house back in order and moving forward. That was such a horrid violation. Hugs to you and Janine and Happy Mother’s Day to Janine.—–love Marilyn ❤

  29. Susan Joos says:

This is so shocking and scary! So far we have only had items taken from our car, and not our house.

It’s especially troubling that they took the time to be so thorough; thank goodness you didn’t surprise them at their “work”, but how awful to come home to such a thing!

  30. marica0701 says:

Disturbing and scary. But you and Janine aren’t hurt so that is a wonderful relief. Praying for you both as you recover from this, and I hope that the burglar is found soon!

    Cordiales salutations,

  32. julie essex says:

I am very sorry to hear about your loss , I know how horrible it is to come home to find your home in this state. This has happened to us twice in the past. I hope that the police are able to find the jewellery so that you are to have them back.Love to you both x

  33. A burglary invades your sense of security. I am so sorry! I hope that this will be your one and only happening like this. Maybe the thieves will sell the jewelry locally and you can get it back. Love, Nancy ❤

  34. Cheri Herald says:

I am SO sorry about your break in. At least you were not at home. Congratulations on your new leader.

  35. What a mess, what a dreadful shock. I am glad your home is back in order but I am sure that your sense of safety is put on edge for this time. My love and hugs to you both – Nancy makes a good point about tracking the jewelry. Maybe you will find a way to recover those irreplaceable items. Sending my best to you both – Cassi

  36. Very sorry, Michel! I’m glad he didn’t take more, but what he took is irreplaceable. It always feels like a violation when thieves invade.

  37. Lavinia Ross says:

Michel, I am sorry to learn of this violation of your home. I hope the items that are dear to you and Janine are recovered soon, and that the thief is apprehended soon. Love to you both.

  38. joyce says:

michel, i’m so sorry for this happening to you and janine. how sad that someone came into your home and stole some of your personal belongings. i hope you and janine can learn to feel safe again in your home. i’m so glad the thief did not come while you were home, and did not hurt you.

  39. Mark Lupton says:

Oh no! I’m sorry that this happened to you.

  40. Winnie says:

I am so sorry that your house was ransacked. I know the utterly helpless feeling of having someone break in and steal things. Years ago my home was ransacked and the thief entered by a broken window. Jewelry was stolen. My prayers are with Jeaninne and your family. Keep an eye on places that sell vintage jewelry or pawnshops. Sometimes the stuff ends up there. Hugs.

  41. Dan and I are so sorry that your home was violated in this way and that you have lost such precious keepsakes!

  42. L. Gail says:

Michel I am so sorry this happened to you!

  43. Anna says:

I am really sorry to hear about the loss of much loved items which has a lot of sentimental value (I think more over than the price value, in my opinion). I am just really thankful that you and Janine were not in the house when this happened.

Sending you all much love from England ❤️ xx

  44. Marion Manson says:

Ohhh Michel!!! This is absolutely horrible!!! What an awful experience to arrive home and find thieves have broken into your home. I’m so very sorry. Hugs toy and Janine. ❤

  45. boobledygook says:

Oh my goodness Michel, im so sorry to know about this..i am thankful to know you and Janine are safe from harm and danger. The items they stole are so precious..i do pray these valuable belongings will find its way back to you. And those culprits are caught.

  46. Debi says:

I am so happy that you were not home when this happened and that you and Janine are safe. Things like this anger me so much because our home is our own little piece of the world and how dare someone come in your home like that!! I am so sorry this happened and I hope you’re able to get your things back that they stole [and that the ones who did this are found and locked up for it!] Sending my love to you and Janine. (Hugs)

  47. L. Marie says:

Oh no! Michel, I am sorry this happened to your family. Though I’m sorry such ugliness happened, I’m grateful that neither you nor your wife was harmed. I really hope the police catch the person responsible. Praying for your continued safety.

  48. I am so sorry this happened. It’s a scary world we live in. I’m grateful everyone is unharmed. I pray that the person or persons responsible are caught and prosecuted as soon as possible. I know it’s so difficult to get over the invasion of privacy and the chaos that this caused. Prayers for you and Janine. Hugs. E

Oh my goodness Michel! I am so sorry to see this damage to your lovely home and lives. How disturbing and sad for the losses of precious gifts.
While I have been sojourning I have been following the news of the elections in France and missing the connection with you. I wonder, how do you feel about the result?
