Janine broke her right shoulder.

Samedi dernier à 9h Janine a glissé dans notre cour glacée et est tombée sur son épaule droite. Elle a ressenti une douleur aiguë à cette épaule et au sommet du bras droit. À l’urgence de l’hôpital elle a obtenu des rayons X. Un os de l’épaule est cassé. Un chirurgien orthopédiste a mis son bras et l’épaule dans une attelle (sorte de très fort bandage ) en espérant les deux morceaux d’os se joignent et se ressoudent . Elle ne peut faire aucun mouvement à droite.
Elle voit le chirurgien le 17 janvier prochain. Espérons qu’elle évitera la chirurgie.

Last Saturday at 9h a.m janine slipped on our iced yard and fell on her right shoulder . She felt a sharp pain at this shoulder and at the top of the right arm. At the emergency of the hospital she got X rays . A bone of the shoulder is broken . An orthopedic surgeon put her arm and shoulder to “ sling “ ( kind of strong bandaging ) in hoping the two bits of bone join themselves and stick together. She cannot make any movement with her right side .
She sees again the surgeon next January 17 . Hopeful she will avoid the surgery

OH NO!! I am so sorry to hear this Michel. Ice can be so dangerous. I have a young man in the hospital who fell on ice, and has an intra cranial bleed. He is in coma, but has started improving as of yesterday.

I’m so sorry that this happened. I know how hard it will be for her to sit still. BUT, she must if she wants that to heal quickly. My prayer is that she heals quickly and will be back to her usual activities.

I am so sorry to hear this, it is so precarious on the slippery ice. I am sending my most positive thoughts for a speedy healing and pray she will not have to have shoulder repair. Yes for your husband this is a major shoulder surgery . Fortunately nowadays the surgeons are true artists and make wonders in their repairs .

I’m sorry also! My mother-in-law broke her’s and it mended very well with just the sling and surprisingly quickly! I wonder if Janie is right handed? I know she will be frustrated not being able to be as productive as she usually is but I know you will take care of her needs, wants and have the patience of Job! Please do be careful, we had ice and snow over last weekend, it stayed on the ground for more than 3 days, my grandmother always said that meant we’d have more snow in 10 days! ILYM

Poor Janine, that split second fall has changed her life for a while. I know she has loving people to help her. Here’s hoping she won’t need surgery, and will get good advice about exercises, once the healing has taken place.

praying for you and janine, and for healing for her shoulder (and for much patience for all those who have added responsibilities now for things she cannot do until her shoulder is healed). i am sure the pain is not pleasant. in fact, when i saw the picture, i thought, ‘that is the first time i’ve ever seen a picture of janine without a smile on her face’ 😉

Michel, my very best wishes for Janine’s fast recovery. Icy grounds are so dangerous and slippery, and even though care is taken, accidents can so often happen.

Oh no! That would be so hard! Is she right-handed? That would be even more difficult. Ice is horrible tricky stuff. I am hoping those bones knit together well and quickly and she won’t need any further work done. Take care – hoping Spring comes soon!
