She was a pensive little girl

English version below the pictures

sarah-18-ans-photo-reduite

Last August 27 we celebrated the 18th birthday of our granddaughter  who lives in England ( Photo of Sarah above )

2016-sarah-en-2001This photo of Sarah immediately made me think of an entry of Xanga in 2002 with only a picture of her taken the year before . She was 2 and half year old . Why this photo? Simply because this photo  was talking much to me and I thought it was a good one. I titled the post “pensive little girl”.

Sarah, 2 and half years old, charcoal by Gail Garrett 2002

I was  not alone to be inspired by this photo , an American artist too, Gail Garrett , who spontaneaously made a charcoal that she sent to us in Amiens. I have just tried to take  a photo but with the glass  and the flash this photo does not  make really justice of her work .

We are always amazed at the growth of the human being and development of its beauty. And this beauty as the heart does not age

  1. Wow – the pensive little girl has grown up to be a very beautiful woman.

  2. KB says:

She is lovely, both now and then. She has soulful eyes.

  3. The photos and artwork are beautiful, as the model was—and is— beautiful. I like the word “pensive” for the little girl. She looks like what we call “an old soul.” The older girl almost looks “younger” in some way, than the little girl. It reminds me of what Pablo Picasso said: “It takes a long time to become young.”

    • “It reminds me of what Pablo Picasso said: “It takes a long time to become young.” I like this quote , Cynthia .If I remember well Picasso became more and more productive in his old times .
This being said I think our soul is always young .

I adore what Cynthia Jobin has said regarding the girl in the picture. Such a beautiful child and now a lovely young woman. I am not surprised that the photograph of this delightful child caught the eye of the artist, and such a beautiful job she did catching the wide eyed thought provoking expression and spirit. . You must be so proud Michel. Thank you for sharing with us. Love, Holly ❤

  5. blb1 says:

The first thing to catch my eye in the first photo is her eyes. As a child the curls immediately caught my eye. The charcoal was an excellent take on her photo. 🙂

Michel, you have a beautiful granddaughter. As a grandfather, I can understand why you are so proud of her. One of the things about being grandparents is, watching them grow. ❤ ❤ 🙂

  7. What a beautiful post. And you’re right the beauty of the heart does not age. Peace.

  11. She is so beautiful, Michel! I can still see the pondering and her thoughtfulness in her eyes!
Her younger-years photo and the charcoal drawing are wonderful!
I often wonder what the little ones are thinking…and I love that often they are so outgoing and honest, they tell me! 🙂
Don’t we all feel young in our hearts? I know I do! 🙂
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  13. jstnotherday says:

Amazing how, I think the expression is caught in the photo of the 18 year old, just the same as it was in the small child.
    What a beautiful young lady.

  28. onedanyankee says:

She was a beautiful child, and as is the way of the world, she has grown into a young woman. It’s always intriguing how a person can change so over the quickly passing years, yet exhibit the same beauty in a face almost entirely different. The pictures and drawing are very well done, Michel. I hope you are well.

  29. Cath Singapore Girl says:

Gorgeous! She is a reminder of how amazing and beautiful God is! I have an idea… would your family members be interested to say something on your WordPress? I think it will be very interesting… Haha… 🙂

What beautiful photos, both of them. And congratulations to your Granddaughter on her 18th Birthday.. And a great title you chose, .. The Charcoal drawing and excellent likeness and one I am sure take pride of place.
