Eau, jardins et bois
Water, gardens and woods
English version above the pictures
In my latest post I described the beginning of a big walk around my town, Amiens. I continued in going down the valley of a river named “Selle ” . I stopped on a bridge above this river and admired this clear water flowing speedily . The sun was radiant and burning and i appreciated the coolness of the vivid water.
I crossed the bridge for the first time to go further and starting of this I was in an unknown area . At first I got the surprise to find vegetable gardens , They were beautiful, without any weeds and with prosperous veggies. I was envious to see this good earth of the bottom of a valley..
Going further along a grassy path i got the second surprise to discover a very large pond , almost a lake . A true mirror reflecting the azur of the sky .On the banks reeds were growing and spirea blooming
Then the lane becomes more narrow and entered a wood .where I was welcomed by a gigantic willow tree . Then the wood became a kind of marsh with alders ; a humid and fresh place very appreciated by this hot weather
a kind of marsh in the wood with alder trees .
Out of the wood I found again the river Selle .. I started to be tired but the magic view of the trees looking at themselves in the mirror of the river incited me to take this last picture .
Comme vous le voyez ces endroits tout près de la ville étaient beaux, calme et silencieux . Cette belle nature me donnait une sentiment de paix bien apprécié en ce moment.;
As you see all of those places near the town were beautiful, calm and silent .This beautiful nature gave a feeling of peace so appreciated at this time.
Looks like a peaceful walk.
Dear Michel, the world is truly beautiful . Nature provides us with breathtaking landscapes and quietly peaceful rivers and paths , tall grasses, manicured gardens. You have taken me on this lovely walk for which I am grateful. Seeing these places through your words is a joy thank you, I will be looking forward to more walks sharing this magnificent world . Love Holly<3
Yes Holly we have to be able to see the beauty that nature offers to us in the simplest things.
That’s what it is all about! ❤
What a wonderful walk Michel. I do hope you carry a phone with you in case you need help. This is the kind of walk I would of done growing up. The heat and humidity here right now would make a walk impossible for me, plus the health problem I have that limits walking to good days mostly.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely place.
I had no phone, Bonnie . Freedom ! ! but I ws not totally alone . I encountered some people , fishers , gardeners and some young people.
I enjoyed this walk. Invigorating and so peaceful and beautiful. It does the soul good to see the beauty that surrounds us …beauty undisturbed by the turmoil and problems that mankind has created…
However the mankind was not absent during my walk but it was silent fisher, calm gardener and even youngsters who were very polite
Thanks, Michel. I loved your photos —really beautiful. I like streams of water–the seem so refreshing. I have heard that if I got lost and found a stream of running water it would be safe to drink. Hope I never have to find out if that is true.
I loved the pond–some pond.
Blessings
Frank
Following the stream makes me visit various kinds of environment.
Thanks Frank .
When will you re-start yo blog?
Michel this is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing it.
Mornin Glorie! I too appreciate the peace a walk in nature provides! Beautiful country, I am a bit envious of the vegetable garden also!!! ilym
That was a beautiful walk — thank you for sharing it. The coolness of the river and the green of the gardens and the woods are so very refreshing as we feel the heat of summer!
You are right,Janet , this day was very hot and the coolness was appreciated .
That looks like a wonderful walk…
Michel! I have been thinking of you… with all that is happening in France.
I think I might want to jump into the coolness of the vivid water. 🙂
Ah, that is a beautiful pond. I could picture going out in a canoe exploring on it. Younger day dreaming of course – I don’t know, maybe I could manage it. I love being outdoors and feel better to have my body moving, the peacefulness of the water, the lure of the trees. 🙂
Ah yes, how quickly a nice wood can become a marsh. That’s what’s tricky about taking walks. 🙂
Your last sentence said exactly what I was thinking.
God’s blessings to you Michel.
❤ Lynn
I guess , Lynn , youe will be very inspired by such a walk in tasting the different shows wich nature offers to us and among all: peace
To follow a river, from above on a bridge as it flows energetically, as it flows into a placid pond, as it seeps up into a marshy flood of undergrowth and trees, then to find it again as it flows into a valley, mirroring the sky and trees… is a wonderful silent witness to the give and take of the flow of life.
You have summed in a sentences the successive parts of my walk and expressed the life lesson brought by this walk
Oh, how I envy gardeners who have rich bottom land! The soil here is very sandy and poor. It has taken years to build it up into fertile, dark soil that will hold moisture. My garden is almost finished for the summer. It has been so hot that almost everything wilted. Only the butternut squash and watermelon persist.
Like you Judy I am envious of those gardeners who have a rich bottom land . Mine is made of clay and paradoxically too much rain in May and June made my garden not much productive
Water, gardens, woods…three of my favorite things in life! They make me think of renewal, life, growth…and bring such peace and beauty and joy!
Thank you for taking us on this beautiful walk, Michel!
Love the willow tree and the reflections in the water!
Do you have cattails growing there?
We have cattails here by the lakes.
HUGS!!! 🙂
I did see cattails during my walk. This does not mean they were not present . Once I saw a colonie of reed with rather large leaves . Perhaps they were cattails and some people had picekd the typical flowers .

Love, love the trees and gardens! Someday we should take a walk and talk about those beauties of earth. I guess we did! 🙂
The beautiful photos and peacefulness of your words were wonderful to wake up to today, Michel, and much appreciated. I will try to have it carry me throughout the day. ❤️
Glad to know this modest post eases your life, Christine. I cannot comment on your facebook page . ( accept my demand of friendship )
Thank you for sharing your walk! The lake reminds me of Minnesota where we have many lakes.
Finding time to enjoy and appreciate nature do calm the soul. The lake looks serene and beautiful.
What a wonderful walk through the beauty of Mother Nature. Love that lake. Thanks for allowing all of your friends to take the walk with you. Have a beautiful day, Michel.
Absolutely serene and beautiful. I love the reflection of the trees in the water. What a wonderful walk you had. Thank you so much for sharing. hugs.
Serene and beautiful are the right words, Elizabeth.
My dear friend, your words and pictures are calming when the world is upside down! How I wish we could go back and rewrite some of history. It is not to be! And perhaps I would not like the rewritten history either. Life is difficult right now, but I do not give up hope. Enjoy the gardens!
Yes , Rachel, faith and hope are two necessary virtues.
What a beautiful walk, Michel. The river and the tree are lovely to see.
Such a beautiful walk, and how gratifying to find a perfect vegetable garden! What peace!
Michel! Look how popular you are! 🙂 ❤
Friendship, at first, Lynn! 🙂

This area looks like a perfect area to sit, read, maybe play some card/board games, or sleep 🙂
A beautiful place and peaceful place to enjoy a summer day 🙂
Thank you for the walk in the woods. I appreciate you doing that because it is so hot here over 90f and very humid so I stay in the air conditioning and swimming pool.
Really beautiful place for a walking tour to enjoy summer and life. Matti.
I came back today to enjoy the photographs. The vegetable garden is lovely! The soil looks very rich.
