Bliss in the heat!

Béatitude dans la chaleur
Bliss in the heat

English version below the pictures

A strange machine in the park of the cathedral of Amiens . Une machine étrange dans le parc de la cathédrale d’Amiens 2 Août 2015

Grand childre, joe and Antoine and in the baclground  a man having a nap . petits-enfants Joe et Antoine et  en arrière plan un homme faisant la sieste

Last Sunday we were cooked like eggs on the pavement of our backyard and of the driveway , so much it was hot

In the afternoon we went with two of our grandchildren , Joe ( English –French ) and Antoine ( French ) to an open air show in the park of the cathedral of Amiens . It was like in the Middle age when around the cathedrals there were clowns, various artist and shows .

One of the shows was a kind a big wheel driven by two or three people. This wheel made a lot of weird things. This machine produced a rhythmic sound like a windmill and a speaker gave a slow rhythm music . Janine found for me a deck chair and I have to say that rocked by the music and also savoring the sweet shadow of the foliage of the high trees , I was not long to fall in a repairing nap. .

A perfect bliss!

The “man having a nap” looks comfortable, indeed, but your grandson must be roasting in that sweatshirt!

    • Hello,Dian! ! This grandson is called Joe. ,He comes from England . He loves to wear that sweatshirt . By this way he keeps his isothermy.: He is not cold when it’s cold outside and he is not warm when it is hot! ! 🙂

  4. cocosangel says:

That must have been a wonderful day with your grand children and enjoying that wheel.

  5. jstnotherday says:

Thought I knew that man in the background having a respite. 🙂

  6. jstnotherday says:

    Oh…. respite is the wrong word…. I just meant a rest…
but I just looked up the definition and it says a rest from something unpleasant or difficult :-/
I do not think your day was at all unpleasant or difficult.

  7. The napping man is the smart man! 😉 🙂 And I see a halo around his head! 😉 😛 Naps were created for Summer afternoons. 🙂
Glad you had such a good-memory-making day with your grandsons!
That machine looks amazing and so interesting! 🙂
    Cool-HUGS!!! 🙂

  15. L. Gail says:

Sometimes we need a repairing nap. I can’t stand the heat it makes me so uncomfortable I stay in air conditioning or pool water in the summer. I don’t visit other homes because they keep it too warm for me. Wish I was like Joe and could stand a sweat shirt. So glad you are enjoying your day with grandsons.

  16. L. Marie says:

How lovely that you spent time with your grandsons. Everyone else looks as if they felt hot. But your grandson seems cool in his sweatshirt.

  17. mimiwi2013 says:

As we age, we cannot tolerate the extremes in temperature anymore. The young can adjust so much easier. I was very uncomfortable at the dinner after our grandson’s wedding. The building was so very hot, and only one large fan to try to stir the air. We had to leave shortly after the dinner, and not stay for the music and dancing, because I was getting weak and lightheaded. It is hard to imagine the summers I suntanned in the middle of summer in the 110 degree temperatures in Arizona while growing up. I would have loved to listen the sounds and music that wheel produced. I imagine it sounded very unusual. I love things like that. I would have been sitting in a chair next to you and Janine!!

  18. Handsome grandsons. The ‘man having a nap” looks so comfortable. 😉
Sounds like a very lovely day indeed. Love, Elizabeth

  22. weggieboy says:

I love the whimsy of the strange machine! It looks very purposeful in some medieval way. Perhaps it is mewant to put the fear of God in the peasants’ minds…or just to amuse regular people! A delightful post, Michel, but then, yours always are!

  23. weggieboy says:

meant, rather – fingers are straying onto the wrong keys this morning….

  24. Happy Wonderful Whee-kend, Michel!

ryc: Carissa is our daughter. The only child we have now. She lives here in the city, also the only family living here. Wil’s brother lives in New Mexico but I doubt he will ever visit. 🙂

  32. I would love to see a machine like that and hear its song. Napping outdoors is the best! I used to fall asleep in my chair at the swimming pool when I would take my kids there on hot days.

  33. Yvonne says:

Dear Saint Michel. I did a Florence post, just for you!

  34. Angela Im says:

Oh I love your blogs! You were cooked like eggs on the driveway! Haha lol it’s burning up hot in Beijing too. And it’s humid which is unusual for here. It’s usually very hot but not humid. Crazy weather changes around the world I think. Glad your grandsons were lucky to spend another hot day with you and Janine. I wish Isla could have had that sort of time together with her grandparents … Much love, Ang
