Mes peintures !
My paintings !
English version after the French text .

In decluttering the house my wife Janine found out in our attic a file with old paintings I made when I was 14 /15 years old .
I have not painted since those years 1947 / 49. I found pleasure to draw or paint and I made it without model or photo to copy . I used only my memory and viewed in my mind the familiar sceneries . I had attended some lessons taught by the teacher who was not a specialist of art and taught may other matters . This explains the elementary look of those paintings and their poorness.
However they reflect France way of life in 1947, remained very rural and simple . For example there was no many cars and the works in the fields were made with horses . They reflect also a part of what was in the mind of a 14 years old at this time
I show them like documents and not for the artistic quality .
Le chasseur et son chien The hunter and his dog 1947
Dreamer and fisher . I would have many memories to relate about this river and this meadow near an ancien water mill called “le lutin “
Vers le marché ! 1948 .Mon père aidait dans cete ferme durant ses congés Towards the farmer market 194 My father helped at that farm during …his holidays
In the background people make stack . They work with horses .
Those paintings make many things living again .and also the feelings of ayoung boy in 1947-1948
I’m sorry to have to disagree with you my friend, but I think that these paintings do show artistic ability. A free flowing rhythmic line. You are a multi talented man. I think you should start drawing and painting again….A good way to think and to meditate. It’s obvious to me that you enjoy doing this. Even more impressive is the fact that you did these from memory…
Love,
votre amie,
Francoise.
Thanks, Michel.
I loved your paintings. My wife does water coloring paintings.
I also liked your comments under each painting.

In friendship
Wow, Michel for a 14/15 year old, you have been an incredible painter. They are all so well done. Had you continued, you would have made an excellent painter. 🙂
Michel do you remember the times of the French revolution? I don’t know when it happened?
When I read your posts, it is like reading a Canadian Document. Our start with English, and the french is after. 🙂
Take care,
No I did not continue by lack of time due to the scientist studies
About the times of the French Revolution .They start on july 14 1789 an rt those pages are white and black , I mean very contrasted .
For someone not ‘trained’ as you say they are pretty doggone good. Assuming medium is water color?
Oh, I would love to return to days of ‘not too many cars’!
I am so sad, the paintings, they are not showing for me. 😦 I was really looking forward. I will try to reload.
Ah! They have loaded now and they are wonderful! As I knew they would be, which is why I was feeling so disappointed not to see them. What a treasure to have.
Wow, Michel–those are awesome. I would frame them and hang them. You should give art a go again.
Very talented and very expressive. I agree…they should be framed and hung on the wall to enjoy! ❤ Love to all , Nancy
I love your artwork, Michel! I see that you are very talented! I love your color choices, and your subjects are wonderful! I feel at peace just looking at your paintings! 🙂 How wonderful that they bring back memories for you! And they will be a part of your precious legacy to your children and grandchildren! I’m so glad Janine found your art! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
The photos would not load for me. I feel very underprivileged!
Whatever their artistic merit, they have undeniable charm, Michel!
These are quite lovely Michel and I see some hidden talent there.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Greetings Michel, I just learned that you are a Harry Potter fan! That is so cool. Me too.
The books, or the movies? or both?
for me, I have seen all the movies and read all the books… in that order.
I may have read The Deathly Hallows before I saw those last two movies.
Your paintings are charming. Thank you for sharing a past way of life.
Your paintings are lovely, not only as a vision of French life at that time, but also as works of art! I do think you have talent and I think you might enjoy taking up painting again. Your work reminds me of something Grant Wood, a famous painter from Iowa where I grew up, might have done.
http://www.grantwoodartgallery.org/grantwood.htm They also have something of the same style as Grandma Moses, another famous American artist. http://www.artnet.com/artists/grandma-moses/ Thank you for sharing your art!
You are really kind Nancy to compare my attempts of apprentice to those masters !!
thanks anyway.
Seconding Nancy. Congratulations and a nice and long drawing career to you Michel !
I think you are a very talented person.
Mornin Glorie…my favorite is the hunter and dog but they are all wonderful! You are a man of many talents, a true Renaissance Man! ilym ❤
Ha! I just commented back to your comments on my “Sparkly Crown” post, Michel! 😛 I always look forward to, and love, your comments! 🙂
I hope you and Janine are having a wonderful July day! 🙂

As a teenage artist you had remarkable talent! I’m certain that had you continued, you could have made a living with your art. Did any of your children inherit your artistic ability?
these are wonderful paintings. You should be famous! They have a wonderful quality and atmosphere. You are so talented. Fifteen years old. How wonderful we can see them now. Love Gill ❤

they are beautiful nonetheless and evoke a feeling of country life 😀
You were pretty good.
That life you paint is from a distant past. It is good to have this paintings posted and shared with us so we can share your memories too. Rural life was very important them.
You are very good at rendering the scene from memory. Who is the hunter? family? friend?
How are your doing with with the recovery? Climbing trees again?

The hunter was a imaginary character . he was in my mind although I am not a hunter nor a fisher !!! 🙂
Recovery ? step to step. I have to be patient . Thanks to ask.
These are real art and I love them!
Dear Michel,
Every single painting is most realistically captured by your colors and lines. Amazing! I am sure your children would love to have them hanging in their homes for generations to come. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your work. I am blessed to know how talented you are. Excellent work Michel!
Love, ❤
Zakiah.
I like your art. They look great.
It’s wonderful to find such things that speak so clearly to us of our youth. Those bygone days seem simple and bright as we look back, ignoring all that was not so pleasant. It’s the way of us older folks.
